Choosing a Roofing Contractor

Are You Asking the Right Questions?

A new roof installation has the potential to raise your overall home value by 15 to 40 percent; however, this is highly dependent on the quality of work performed. So, don’t just choose the first roofing contractor you find or the one offering the lowest rate.

Asking the right questions is very important when choosing a roofing contractor. Before you choose the contractor to perform your roofing needs, make sure you are informed in the following areas!

Materials

Roof materials play a large role in roof durability and lifespan. When choosing the best material for your roof, make sure to factor in your climate. The weather conditions and temperature, experienced in your geographical region, can factor into how well roof materials will serve your home.

It’s also important to ask about what type of metal (galvanized steel, lead pipe, plastic, etc.) will be used for the flashing or valleys on your roof.

Insurance Coverage

When choosing a roofing contractor, make sure to ask all potential candidates what insurance coverage they have. Roofing contractors should have worker’s compensation and liability insurance. Worker’s compensation protects you, should a worker be injured on your property. If any damage occurs to your property, throughout the course of the roofing project, liability insurance covers that damage.

Warranty

Uncovering what warranties a contractor offers what is offered under those warranties is very important. At Turnbull, our Owens Corning Preferred Contractor status, allows us to sell warranties our competitors cannot. We offer extended warranties on all roofing projects we do.

Your roof is an invaluable part of your entire home, so make sure you choose a roofing contractor who takes it as seriously as you do. Here at Turnbull roofing, we want all our clients to have a thorough understanding of the roofing options available to them and work with them to create their vision for their ideal roof.
